I, and our church, owe Ken Funk a large debt of gratitude and appreciation for his diligent efforts in establishing this website. Through his expertise, creativity, and patient long hours, the job got done.
Ken grew up in Aberdeen, was a member of our church and graduated from Aberdeen High School. He then attended and graduated from Westminster College in Salt Lake City. He taught for eight years at the Utah State School for the Blind. The next stop was at Reno where he taught the blind for three years.
In 1969, he moved to San Francisco where he earned his Master’s Degree from San Francisco State University. His next move was to Citrus Heights, near Sacramento. He taught there for the next 36 years, teaching the blind, the deaf, the deaf/blind, and the orthopedically handicapped.
In 1960, Ken married Lynne R. Beckman in Ogden, Utah. They had one son, Aaron, and two grandchildren, Tristan and Fiona. Lynne passed away in 2005, from cancer.
Ken retired in 2006, but since that time until the present, he has worked as a Docent and Stationmaster at the renowned California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. It is an impressive place and Ken enjoys it very much. He is also the Webmaster for the St. Francis Episcopal Church in Fair Oaks, Calif.
Ken’s plans for the future include moving to Boise in 2013 to be near his son, Aaron, Amber his wife, and children Tristan and Fiona. He will be near other relatives and friends.
We are proud of Ken’s accomplishments and are very thankful he is still so loyal to his home church.
